hi everyone.
my name is Jen, and i'm 24 years old and quite overweight (260 pounds), i was diagnosed with PCOS in Sept 2007 after only have 2 periods in 47 months (and they were month 16 and 17)
I am on my second round of fertility treatments this year and after being told i would never and could never get pregnant i did get pregnant on my first round of fertility treatment but miscarried triplets in Feb 2008.

i currently take 850mg metformin 2x/day to control my insuline resistance and the fertility drug i use is puregon injections (225 worked well for me).

my last fertility cycle after 21 days of injections (puregon) resulted in 3 or 4 large folicles (15-25mm) and 16-18 smaller folicles (6-14mm) between both my ovaries, i had mild OHSS and it was very painful.
this cycle i have 5-7 large folicles (15-19mm) and 1-2 small folicles (6-14mm) in my Right ovary and 1-2 large folicles (15-19mm) and up to 8 small folicles (6-14mm) in my left ovary. My left ovary is very very stuborn and hard to see.
When I went for my last ultrasound they told me they couldn't let me go any longer or I would have a "litter", however it is possible that i may still have a litter with that many folicles.
I am willing and ready to take any and all babies that i get out of my fertility treatments.
good luck to everyone out here, and never give up!

hi Kelly thanks for sharing about your struggle. My Dr. gave me the go ahead on TTC again, but I'm still working to lose weight. (well that was before the vacation anyway lol). I asked about the met and he said no because clomid would help me get pregnant better than met would, which confused me cause I was asking about it for weight loss, not pregnancy. I go in tomorrow so I'm going to ask him to just start me on the meds already cause this obviously isn't going to happen on it's own.

Anyway, good luck and baby dust

Hi, I was diagnosed with pcos in 2001 but never got treatment for it till 3 yrs ago. I am very overweight, which came on suddenly due to my pcos. I am struggling to lose weight as my gyno beleives that if I do I should start ovulating by myself. I had an ultra sound a few mnths ago, which revealed that I have very small follies but no cysts (relief).
Rachael, I am currently on 2000mg met and have to say that I feel it is a godsend. If I hadnt begun to take it I know I would have continued to gain weight. I started on 500mg daily and over the period of 12mnths worked up to 2000mg. It can really take it out of you when you start on it, drain your energy, upset your tummy, but as long as you watch your surgar and fat intake you should adjust quickly, otherwise your body flushes it out (yucky).
Anyway, I hope that this year I will succeed in losing some weight and finally add that tiny bundle of joy that is missing from our family.
Missing Destiny, my heart went out to you, and I feel terrible about your loss, it must have been so hard after your struggle for so long. I keep you in my thoughts xoxoxox

ok so I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and just had my first LAP and had cysts removed. I can't TTC for 6 months and I want to lose weight in this time. I've been told that Metformin will help you lose weight when you have PCOS and I'm thinking about asking my doctor if we could try this, but I also know it will increase my fertility and I don't want to accidentally get pregnant in that time and have problems. (wow I never thought I'd say the word accidentally pregnant with me again!).

Can it help you lose weight? Will it help enough that it's worth taking extra precautions so I don't get pregnant?

Hi you guys already know my story if not click on my babys picture so you can read it...I just wanted to join bc unfortunately this is what I have, fortunately though I have it under control and I beat it once, I plan to do it again and I hope is soon very soon...Today it was my cd10 u/s to see how my follies were growing this is cycle #3 of meds for me, Femara/hcg , well I was discourage to see that I had 2 follies but they were only 9 and 8mm, I know is early but at this time last cycle I had 2 follies that were 10mm, so my oficial cd14 is Monday and I go for another U/S and I'm hoping and praying that for some miracle my follies start to do some major and fast growing from now until Monday so that I can trigger and have a better chance at getting pregnant this month, bc if not my next step in inj and unfortunately I can not afford those right now, so I just have to continue to pray and have faith, I know is all in Gods time but I hope is soon...Anyways for all of you with Pcos don't ever let your guard down you/we can and will get pregnant again don't ever let anybody tell you otherwise, believe in God, and in your self , have Faith and it will happen, It happen to me , and it will happen to you and me again, keep your chin up... In the mean time educate yourselves about Pcos learn how to take control of this uncurable monster, it can be done ,it will never go away but you can control it so that it doesn't control you and your life, I did it and I strugle everyday to keep it under control but when I look back and when I see everything I have accomplished by controling this Monster I get motivated even more and it gives me strength to continue fighting it and to don't let it defeat me...When they say lose the weight believe me I know is hard, but please do what you can to do it , it makes a huge difference on your body, life and Hormones, I personally suggest low carbs its what worked for me and I have lost before my baby 75lbs and after my baby since I had gain 65lbs with her almost 6 months ago I now lost 75lbs again so I am 10lbs lighter than before getting pregnant all in 6 months, with low carb and excercice, I know is hard but you can do it just think why you are doing it for it will give you strenght and motivation...Best of luck to everyone and if you ever need to talk to me or need advice please feel free to add a comment and I'll be glad to help you, I am practically a pro when it comes to Pcos (unfortunately) I have been dealing with it and fighting it for 7 years bc thats when I got the real accurate DX but I have had it for 12 years and some now.......Love Vicky
